This is a truly cosmopolitan project, everybody can enjoy because everbody understands „the language“.
The animated short (12′) connects the legend of Direjná (meaning Grandma Cricket in English) whose songs can bring rain to this Earth, to modern day struggles against water privatization – actually the short evokes the Cochabamba Water War in 2000. The story of Direjná comes from the indigenous Ayoreo communities of Eastern Bolivia (in Paraguay the Ayoreo are called morocotós).
The film has been produced in The Animation Workshop in Viborg, Denmark together with 8 bolivians animators, who have been supported by the Danish Government. It has been directed by a French, the music was composed by another French, and a Mexican and a German were assisting the production.
Enjoy & share!
Schöner Film. Leider stimmt das Bild nicht – die Grille wird nie geschlagen, sondern immer gehätschelt. Ihr Käfig ist golden, nicht schwarz.
